Was invited to the Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Launch on New World Renaissance Hotel.

Lenovo Event

As usual, was expecting a high-end and expensive laptop that uses Gorilla Glass as its primary aesthetic feature. But lo and behold, it also has a RapidCharge battery technology that charges a battery to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

Me, scrutinizing the ThinkPad X1.

Ahem, but of course, free food, again. This is the life eh? I call it ‘Event Freestyling’

Who am I with? Well, I invited the Phil IT Org gang to the event as well.

Phil IT Org

Can’t get away without mentioning them. So, here you go guys!

Was invited today to the Accenture Technology Talk held at Shangri-la Makati (Rizal Ballroom). In this event, Accenture will showcase the latest in Web and Windows phone applications development using .NET (as was stated on their feedback form).

Free Dinner

The best part is, of course, the free dinner.

Margarita

CDM

This is the reason why I am here.

Phil IT Org

At the same time, the guys from the Philippine IT Org were here as well.

It irks me endlessly every night before I sleep, to finish the book I was writing about. I started writing the book on December 2008 and until now, it isn’t finished. I think its due to laziness and all - that made me shelf writing consistently.

Project Name: Genesis

The reason why I am doing this in the first place is due to me wanting to write a book before I call it a life. Technically, a goal in my personal bucket list.

Genesis

All in all, I have written down 40,000 words and every time I re-read a particular chapter, it makes me add more words in it, thus, leaving me no choice but to edit other chapters as well. I need to find the right mindset again to do it.

Inner Pages

I need another reason or a push to continue on with this bucket list.

Need to find it, stat!

I met the guys from the Russian Cookie House today.

The Russian Cookie House Logo

Their classy logo, timeless logo.

Almond Cookies

Awesome almond cookies! 500 pesos worth of nuts, though. Not for everyone.

Taste Test

Taste test. Here we go!

Dale and I

At the same time, they got some tips from Dale and me about blogging. After that, it was a no-holds-barred afternoon with topics ranging from politics, local businesses, crazy ideas involving animals (esp. mongoose), websites and education.

For Philippine Users:

How has FourSquare affected you?

On a Corporate or Business Outlook:

For now, it seems that it doesn’t have the desired effect or is not being maximized by local users and businesses. Therefore, it would be best to not be uber active on FourSquare, but to just keep a presence and top it off with a basic deal.

Basic reasons why Filipinos are not using FourSquare, yet:

1. They do not have smartphones or cellphones that are able to download such applications. Accessing FourSquare on their mobile browser is just too troublesome.
2. Majority of Philippine handphone users do not have access to mobile internet. They can only access the internet through coffee shops or malls that provide free internet. Other than that, mobile internet is expensive especially for prepaid users.
3. Only a small percentage of Filipinos do know what FourSquare is, and its real purpose. There is no marketing on a local level nor any country representative that is educating local businesses on how to use it to their advantage.
4. Majority of Philippine FourSquare users think that FourSquare is just another game of check-ins. And for them, if they wanted to do it, they’d rather do it on a hassle-free basis, which is through Facebook - making users only want to login on one site, rather than access FourSquare simultaneously.
5. FourSquare is unattractive to local businesses due in part to the small niche that they represent and at the same time, they are not able to create a profile page on FourSquare, making them favor Facebook more - instead of FourSquare.
6. FourSquare badges are designed mainly for US users and not for global audiences.

Whatcha think?
